My dress is my favorite clothing I’ve ever owned and something I wish I could wear each day. That said, in spite the fact that they promised they had my size gowns in stock to try, I was so very nervous that I wouldn’t be able to find things to try on, much less like.
I did a bunch of looking online but couldn’t find samples in my size.
My husband and I ok a roadtrip and went to the store, since I live in northern Illinois.
I’m a very plus size bride and I was completely and tally freaked out about the dress. On p of this, they really seem to have a little of everything, though! I should recommend RK bridal. Now regarding the aforementioned fact… Hundreds of designers and styles to choose from, and since you aren’t paying for the experience the rates are reasonable. Usually, because you pull your dresses, it’s a slightly different experience. With some better than others, each one was another experience.
I went to five separate shops, a couple of them more than once. That’s the most important things to have in mind. Anyways, just since you have bad experience at one place, doesn’t mean each dress will make you look like crap. Fighting the redundant fat steadily, when I tried it on in the store. I couldn’t return or exchange it, my dress was discontinued. When I brought it in for alterations, they’ve been really nice about that thing, and did a nice work with the alterations -but it never fit quite as well as that sample dress I first tried on in my actual size. By the way I did end up buying that dress, from shop close to my home where the sales people had been nice to me, after I had tried it on in a size much closer to my own, as a small aside.
Being able to see a normal girl like me in all the shapes and styles has helped me no end to know what I like the look of and what will suit my shape.

She’s a former OB/GYN nurse and knows how to make women feel comfortable with their bodies. Now let me tell you something. For those in the VT/Eastern NY region, By the way I highly recommend A Trace of Lace in Rutland. I must like those elements as the p is similar to what I carried on getting.

That’s a drop waisted ballgown with a crazy skirt. I love that you made this post! Notice, I felt SO anxious about wedding dress shopping, I generally love going shopping just to try on clothing. Doesn’t it sound familiar? Tal shock to me. Somehow fluorescent lighting on a dress that is 2 sizes really like that in the shop, you only ever see pictures of women looking way glammed up. Whenever being able to try on dresses that all fit did wonders for my ‘selfesteem’, m this particular self conscious person, I had a pretty good experience. I just ignored the size, that is always at least 2 sizes larger in wedding dresses, and paid attention to the fact that all these fun dresses fit me.
Know what, I decided to simplify for myself and just went there, I knew DB should have my size. So smaller as the one I tried on fit me perfectly and I didnt have to imagine what the dress should look like on me before I purchased it. Besides, the gowns are a decent price! For brides in Sydney, Australia and similar wns in NSW, I’m pretty sure I recommend Calabro Bridal in Wetheril Park. They also have a store in Newcastle. Ladies there were absolutely lovely! Just think for a moment. Dress was a size I am a street size 18 on an ideal day, when I got to the shop. When I was calling around to area bridal shops, it must be do able to at least try on, that said, this one ld me that they had the dress in a size It wasn’t ideal.
I had driven about ‘three and a half’ hours to try on this specific dress.
It’s not sitting right anyway, and is nowhere near closing in the back, we somehow managed to defy physics and get me in the thing.
With that said, this face says it all. Not cool, dress shop, not cool. Then again, it’s so fitted through the thighs that I had a hard time stepping up onto the little pedestal. Not so much’ for moving around. However, it’s great in photos. As a result, that’s a dress that is meant to be seen walking away. Usually, I was feeling brave enough wards the end of my first appointment that I tried on a mermaid dress. Whenever being as big as I am, but, holy curves, with that said, this thing really did look stunning, so that’s a style I never thought I could pull off. On a happy note, the majority of the shops I went to were very nice and all had stuff I could try on.
If there’s one close to you, I would recommend it as a starting place to try on lots of silhouettes, David’s Bridal can be hit or miss. Nobody made any negative comments on my size.
