It was ridiculous. I was in a wedding in September and the strapless dress that came for me was so big that when it was zipped up it fell to the floor! They know that to sell dresses, they must offer them, most bridal shops would rather not bother with alterations. Actually the bridal shops I have or still do work for, hey, do not make much money on the alterations after they pay the seamstress. That’s right! By the maker’s request, it should be left unhemmed to ensure it’s long enough and that I can have the train shortened. I am ordering my dress from an online store and will need to get it altered. I’m should be looking long and hard for a tailor that has at least some experience in handling historical garments! Thank you for this. Most sizing problems stem from the fact that most people are not one size, Know what, I can imagine a scenario where unscrupulous sales people misorder on purpose to earn money in their own alteration departments.
